Chatiquette

Chatiquette

Chatiquette are rules of behavior which are common in the net. The chatiquette is part of our user rules. So we suggest you read it carefully.

01. Meet the other chatters with respect and kindness. That way they will respect you and be kind to you. Treat the others the same way you want to be treated.

02. Be yourself! Sure, it’s tempting to adopt another identity (seemingly being anonymous), but the fun is bigger making true friends – and not to be afraid that someone might just look behind your mask. The more you get to know the others the more difficult it gets to hide your true identity. And we don’t need to hide from friends, do we?

03. Help new users! When you see a “newbie” joining remember your own first chat. Did anybody help you? Then you should do the same. Nobody helped you? Then you should do better than those who should have helped you then. Maybe the “newbie” will become a permanent chatter and even your friend.

04. Everybody has a bad day. And everybody gets real agitated every once in a while. But don’t let the others “pay” for your bad mood. Even if you feel bad, you don’t have to make the others feel bad too – because chatting is supposed to be fun. If you want to talk about your problems, there will surely be someone you can talk to.

05. When you first join a chartroom don’t just jump into it. Have a look around first, who’s there, how’s the mood. You don’t walk into a pub and jump on the table shouting “here I am, make me happy” , do you?

06. You like to flirt? Sure, it’s fun. But not with everybody. When you meet somebody that doesn’t give in leave him/her alone. Some people get agitated by the question” are you m or f?” alone.

07. Too much advertising of web links (games or private homepages) will be annoying for other users. So please don’t flood or spam the chat with any sort of web links. No one will have any objections if you want to show your homepage or an interesting site and be sure to be honored, but if you post your links too often be sure no one will even think about clicking on them.

08. Chatting is fun and humor goes with it. But everybody has a different kind of humor. What to you seems hilarious might be annoying for somebody else. And don’t forget that written word may be totally different from the spoken one.

09. Don’t push the others to give you their phone numbers or email address, if the others want to do so they will let you know in good time, maybe soon, maybe never, live with that!

10. If you want to address someone use his nickname e.g. “tam tam, what kind of music do you like?” otherwise it might happen that the other person doesn’t know you spoke to him and maybe will not answer.

11. CAPITAL LETTERS and bold writing are only to be used to emphasize what you want to say, if you keep using these types without reason, someone is bound to get annoyed.

12. Bad words and swearing have no place in chartrooms; the only thing you’ll achieve is making the others angry. And don’t forget: glorifying violence, pornographic pictures and racism will be prosecuted!!!!

13. You see someone who behaves badly? Just leave him alone and ignore him. Don’t get into a discussion with him , he’ll be bored after a while and leave when he realizes that nobody pays attention. If that person is very persistent and annoying notify the operator or the administration. ( the administer should be informed anyway if that person posts illegal links or insulting comments). Let the administrator know when that person was online and which nickname he used.

14. Don’t be under the impression that you’re anonymous in the chat. YOU’RE NOT! The chat server stores your ip – address and gets to your provider and your phone number. That way the administrators have the possibility to discipline people that are very annoying and screenshots can be made to prove illegal action.

If you follow these simple rules you should have lots of fun chatting!
